…and how it can help You!
In the journey of life we have one-body, one-mind and one-spirit working together to see us to the finish line. So, when it comes to your heath, you want the best! Many individuals are turning to holistic medicine, often when suffering from chronic ailments that have not been successfully treated by conventional medicine. There is no limit to the range of illness or disorders that can be treated in a holistic way. That’s because the holistic approach focuses on education and responsibility for personal actions to achieve balance and well being. Healing takes a team approach involving the patient and their healthcare provider, to address all aspects of the patients life. Treatment involves finding and fixing the underlying cause of illness.
Holistic medicine treats you as a whole person and considers your overall physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being before beginning treatment.
Often when patients come to see me for treatment of a particular issue or illness, overall health and quality of life improves as well as the target issue. This is because holistic medicine works with your bodies own natural healing processes to gently guide you back into balance.
The body's systems are seen as interconnected parts of the person's whole being. Its natural state is one of health/balance, and an illness, disease or pain is an imbalance in the body's systems. As a holistic health practitioner I treat and ease symptoms as well as treating the underlying cause of illness.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of primary health care that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, remedial massage (tuina), exercise and breathing therapy (such as qigong), and diet and lifestyle advice. The most popular forms of TCM health care are Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Based on simple ancient principles; TCM is a safe, non-evasive holistic medicine. TCM promotes balance through the energies of yin yang and qi.
A Modern View
Numerous modern western studies have proven the healing power of acupuncture. By stimulating the bodies natural processes, acupuncture increases immune response, increases endorphin count, increases circulation, reduces cortisol, and solicits an anti-inflammatory response. The effects can be felt immediately, however the chain reaction continues to benefit and aid patient's health for days-to-weeks after treatment. Acupuncture increases sensitivity to self… promoting self awareness and highlighting out-of-balance behaviors. Together, the immune response and the increased self awareness, have proven the validity of the science and given acupuncture a distinguished place among modern treatment options.
Acupuncture is complementary to other holistic sources of well being as a part of a complete/ healthy lifestyle. Yoga, meditation, qi-gong, and massage harmoniously contribute to the natural healing that acupuncture inspires. Our lives are dynamic and its hard to expect any single practice to direct the course of the whole. By incorporating multiple sustainable methods of wellness into our lives, the healing effect is magnified and our healing goals are made increasingly attainable. The difference in a healthier happier you may be as simple as a couple of needles and a downward facing dog.
