Our minds react to the distractions around us. The news, the drama of others, social media feeds and just the chaos of an overstimulated world. Even those of us with the best of intentions to always be positive and keep away from the drama, experience these distractions. And they can take hold of us.
Our hearts live in faith. Our hearts live in this deep rooted natural state of love, gratitude and compassion. We must take time to "disconnect" from the distractions, from the fear, worry and stress of our minds and connect with our heart.
As you begin another day that is probably packed full of different activities, take time to become quiet and go within to your heart. I am going to give you a mantra to repeat throughout your day that I have learned from Father Phil Eagen ~
"Lord be in my thoughts. Lord be on my lips. Lord live in my heart."
When you feel overwhelmed, distracted or just plain worn out, close your eyes and repeat this to yourself. Change your thoughts...Change your world... Right? Maybe we could just use a little help from a Divine power.
